The Bay Harbour Market

August 9, 2011

DO YOURSELVES A FAVOUR…

Shoot down to the NEW (since 1 July 2011) market in Hout Bay this Saturday OR Sunday (OH… the luxury of being able to choose between BOTH weekend days)… and experience.. YES, IT IS AN EXPERIENCE… the vivaciously vibrant colours, energy, decor and positivity.

It is always a truly spectacular drive through to the Harbour – whichever direction you may be coming from, and being located right ON THE WATERS edge – it has an attractive authenticity to it.

  • ROARING FIRE PLACE

Once again, BRILLIANT signage!

  • Salads

  • very FUNKY public toilets…

THAT'S the door handle... with the door and ceiling covered in pink fur

  • AND… parental porn… check out THIS kiddies area!…
The Tart bought a book from the author, Sarah Bullen, for her practice library.

  • Apart from having the best vibe I’ve experienced at a market  in Cape Town, the other thing that I really appreciated, was signage in general. The stalls have SUCH clear, communicative, attractive sign boards – with ALL the info that you require.
  • You know when you’re just browsing, and something preeeeedy or YUMMY- looking catches your eye – but there’s no price on it – or around it  …. and so you just PASS on BY…. its so annoying. Who really wants to stop to ask prices every time? The chance of a sale can be lost so easily.
  • Here is an example of what I’m saying:

Here's Paula Moore of Paula's Pantry...

and look at ALL that lovely signage - ALL the details - and ALL the customers! 🙂

I really enjoyed the Cider – maybe a leeetle bit too much…
You have to try it guys – seriously good stuff!

right up until we finally departed - suitably 'jolly'...

We had such a wonderful afternoon.

I must just make a comment on the pancakes…OMG!…THEY ARE B E A U T I F U L ! Much to Andy and Lynnie’s dissapointment (not mine, as I am on a wheat-free, dairy-free, sugar-free detox), the pancake fairies were elsewhere this past Sunday but they will be back! The previous Sunday I had a lovely large hot pancake folded up with grated homemade fudge, banans slices and roasted almond flakes..incredible! The chocolate cake in the blog pics from a Lakeside-based bakery and coffee shop is also rich and gorgeous (all chocolate, no cocoa!) and I can’t wait to taste their cheese cake! …(I think this seroiusly shows my sweet tooth and how much I am currently feeling left out! 😦
