Tables at Nitida – the best burger I’ve had in a while

August 24, 2012

A few months ago I tried Cassia Restaurant at Nitida, a breathtakingly beautiful wine farm located on the ovvvvver side of the boerewors curtain, in Durbanville. See here.

It was sensational.

And so we returned last weekend to try out their other restaurant, Tables at Nitida.

Country life, so close to the city – lush rolling lawns for the kids to go and keep themselves occupied on… 😉 a large outside area for sunny days, and a massive farmhouse style fire place for those cold Cape Town farmland winter days. This is instantly a new favorite.

Slightly more relaxed feel to Cassia, and seriously kiddie friendly in a wholesome, clean, old-school living sort of way.

The stunning entrance and reception.

Stroll past the cake stand as you enter and are seated… Dangerous.

And here’s what I decided on … surprise surprise… (as I often do when I first try a restaurant) I had the The Burger

I was told, with absolute pride, that their burger was a 100 % beef patty, and “no bread crumbs added”.

Served with gherkins and rocket…juicy patty fresh FRESH fresh bun. (you know when you gouge a chunk of the bun out of the centre – as its SO light, sweet and fluffy?!)

And it really was a juicy, tasty, flavorsome patty. I will be bringing my mother here to judge too.

  • It was, however, accompanied by a sort of runny barbeque basting sauce. We all agreed that this, served cold, was not the ideal texture, flavor and temperature to be served with a burger AS GOOD as this one.
  • It also came with a home made Mustard Mayo and Thousand Island Sauce. They were flippantly sensational – REALLY unbelievable. If they were bottled  I would not have hesitated in purchasing a few. AmAzInG Mustard Mayo!

The Magical Mustard Mayo and Tremendous Thousand Island Sauce

The Fabulous Fries (my weakness) and the Mustard Mayo just MADE it for me. I will be ordering an extra helping of these next time. And yes –  I will be back for round #2 with this Brilliant Burger.

The girls ordered wine and, with extreme understanding, the waitress brought me a few little glasses to taste which one I’d dislike the least…

  • VERY nice of her, I thought!

  • Also of mention – I ordered a pot of tea, which came with 2 teabags in the pot! LOVE!
